**Razia Butt** (Urdu: رضیہ بٹ) was a prominent Urdu novelist and playwright from Pakistan, celebrated for her contributions to popular fiction in the 1960s and 1970s. Born on May 19, 1924, in Wazirabad, she spent much of her childhood in Peshawar.
Career Highlights
Razia Butt began her literary journey in her teens, making her debut in a literary journal around 1940. Her first major work was the novel **Naila**, which became quite popular. Throughout her career, she wrote over 51 novels and 350 short stories, many of which were adapted into television serials and films. Notable adaptations include **Bano**, **Saiqa**, and **Dastaan**.
After marrying in 1946, she took a brief hiatus from writing, resuming her literary work in the 1950s. Her storytelling often captured the emotions and struggles of her characters, making her a household name comparable to English writer Barbara Cartland.
In addition to fiction, Butt authored an autobiography titled **Bichhray Lamhe**.
